The Paul Johnson Mini Soccer Festival is sometimes called the PJ Tournament or even the PJT. It is a 28 year old festival that celebrates soccer in our zone. Every mini team (U6-U12) in the South East zone is invited.
The format is that the festival takes place mainly at Ottewell community league. You may or may not have been aware that the season is broke up into 3 rounds. U8s, U10s and U12s are tiered 3 times during the outdoor season. The first tiering is based on geography, the second is based on the results of the first and the third is based on both and is used for the seating of the PJT. U6s are done randomly but at the PJT, they will only play teams that they have never played before. We still do not crown a champion at the PJT, but the aim of tiering to set games up so that make as every game is as close as possible; I love ties.
Friday night - U10 and U12 at Breamar/Ottewell
Saturday 9-4 - U6 to U12 at Breamar/Ottewell
Sunday 9-2 - U6 to U12 at Breamar/Ottewell
A note for U6 & U8 - for this tournament only, we go back to the two equal halves with no practice.
This is where they get to show off what they have learned over the season.
This is a very good time and also a great weekend for teams to have a quick year end party.
I have fallen in love with the PJT. My kids worry that I like it more than Christmas, and they might be right. I love to walk on a Saturday morning, across the field with 500+ players, 500+ spectators, officials and refs yelling, working hard and generally having a great time.
