PostHeaderIcon Why can't I play with my indoor team or my friends from school?

This is a question that the zone get a lot of.  It comes from players, coaches and parents.  At first it makes sense to keep players, friends and coaches together; or does it?

Lets have a look at the real world.  On the current top team in the world: Barcelona, there are two great friends in Xani and Messi. These two guys were both nominated for player of the year (Messi won) and are destoying everything in their path. They are pure joy to watch.

               Xani                                                                      Messi

Now lets look back to World Cup 2010 in South Africa.  This is a 1 month tournament and Xani won it with Spain.

That is how soccer works.  Players come together from all around the world to play for different clubs in Europe.  This is where they make their money.  Then every 4 years they go their seperate ways and vie for their chance to represent their countries internationally.  It is this sporting spectical where dreams are made and glory is gained.

This too is how the zone operates.  We deal with players from accoss the zone, but we try to have each player represent their home community.  We encourage them to be proud to wear their home communities colours.  This is why for the most part we keep communities seperate and each have their own jerseys.

This then means just like at the World Cup, friends will play each other, team mates will line up opposite each other, and relatives can wave across the field to one another.

This is the beautiful game.

PostHeaderIcon The 30-30 Lightning Rule

Use the 30-30 rule to determine the threat of lightning in your area. Clear the field if conditions are unsafe. Under no circumstances should you try to ‘get the game in’ unless the 30-30 guidelines are followed.

30 seconds: Count the seconds between seeing lightning and hearing thunder.  If this time is less than 30 seconds, lightning is still a potential threat. Seek shelter immediately.

30 minutes:  After the last lightning flash, wait 30 minutes before leaving shelter. Half of all lightning deaths occur after a storm passes. Stay in a safe area until you are sure the threat has passed.
